A disturbing incident in Adhaura, Balrampur-Ramanujganj, has led to the death of a man after he was allegedly electrocuted by his wife. The victim’s wife, reportedly angry about her husband’s second marriage, is suspected of carrying out the heinous act. Reports indicate the wife, Parvati Gupta, tied up her husband, Manoj Gupta, before applying the fatal electric shock.
The crime occurred in Adhaura village, under the Balrampur police station’s purview. Manoj Gupta (50) was the victim, and his body was discovered in a semi-nude condition. The police are investigating, and a post-mortem examination has been ordered. Preliminary findings suggest the deceased had two wives. He was married to Parvati Gupta 27 years ago, resulting in one son and two daughters. After more than two decades, he married a younger woman (22 years old), which caused family discord. Consequently, Manoj Gupta moved out of the house and resided in a rented accommodation with his new wife.
After the second marriage, Manoj Gupta gave all his property to his first wife. But, according to sources, the first wife continued to put pressure on him, demanding a significant amount of money. It is alleged that Manoj was called to his home, tied up, and then electrocuted. His daughter and son-in-law were also present during the event. Parvati Gupta was reportedly unwell and was admitted to a district hospital for medical care.
Balrampur TI Bhupendra Sahu mentioned the discovery of Manoj Gupta’s semi-nude body, with his hands and feet bound. The police are investigating this as a potential homicide, awaiting further details.
