A crucial meeting was conducted on July 31st in Patna by the Department of Science, Technology & Technical Education, with the aim of improving the experience for new students in government engineering colleges and polytechnic institutions in Bihar.
The meeting, led by Department Secretary Dr. Pratima, brought together officials and stakeholders to discuss how to better integrate new students into the institutions and familiarize them with procedures. The primary focus was on ensuring new students had easy access to all facilities including hostels, mess, libraries, and laboratories.
During the meeting, Dr. Pratima instructed officials to provide comprehensive information to new students about all aspects of their institutions, to prevent any problems. Officials were also told to educate students about relevant digital portals, helping them find support and file complaints. This was designed to allow institutions to quickly address student concerns.
Dr. Pratima also gave strict instructions to the assistant directors to closely monitor the institutions and hostels to prevent ragging of new students. A review of CCTV cameras in each institution and hostel was mandated to ensure they were working correctly, to monitor and document any ragging incidents.
