The film ‘Karwaan,’ directed by Akarsh Khurana, attempts to find humor in the depths of serious life events. While it has pacing issues, the film avoids being offensive. The story includes detours and side plots. Dulquer’s Avinash is a dissatisfied worker longing to be a photographer. The film has similarities to ‘Kodachrome’, with its father-son road trip narrative. The film’s exploration of themes of estrangement and reconciliation, though familiar, is given a unique treatment. Irrfan’s Shaukat stands out as a unique character. His interactions, from ordering a woman to cover up to quoting lyrics from the film ‘Caravan,’ provide memorable moments. The film’s musical sequences, however, feel out of place. Despite its flaws, ‘Karwaan’ possesses a warmth and empathy for its characters, making it an enjoyable journey, though with occasional narrative detours.
