
Shibu Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and the driving force behind the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has died. He was receiving treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi after a prolonged illness. Chief Minister Hemant Soren confirmed the news with a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his deep sorrow. He wrote, “Respected Dishom Guruji has left us all. Today, I feel a void.” Known affectionately as ‘Dishom Guru’ throughout the state, Shibu Soren was a pivotal leader in the fight for a separate Jharkhand. Born on January 11, 1944, in Nemra village in the Ramgarh district, he entered politics after his father’s death and dedicated his life to advocating for the rights of the tribal community.
