
Farooq Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference, has voiced strong criticism of the central government, focusing on the status of Jammu and Kashmir. The anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 is nearing, prompting Abdullah to question the central government’s actions, specifically the BJP’s efforts to improve Jammu and Kashmir. He demanded to know when statehood would be restored. Abdullah expressed his confidence in the eventual reversal of the decision, stressing the need for change. He criticized the existing administrative structure and emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles. Additionally, Abdullah commented on the ongoing security situation, specifically the encounters in Kulgam. He questioned how such events could occur after claims of eliminating terrorism. PDP President Mehbooba Mufti also expressed similar views, highlighting the failure to deliver on promises of betterment following the removal of the special status in August 2019.
