The final rites for the late Shibu Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, were conducted on Tuesday with traditional ceremonies. The cremation occurred in Nemra, his ancestral village, located in the Gola block of Ramgarh district. A large number of people, including his supporters, were present.
When the news of Guruji’s cremation reached the public, people started arriving at Nemra from Tuesday morning. The district administration had placed barricades at Lukaiyatand, about seven kilometers before the village. A helipad and transportation were arranged for VIPs. The VIPs followed the route established by the district administration. However, supporters of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Shibu Soren decided to walk the seven kilometers.
The general public walked from Lukaiyatand to Nemra. There was no space available on the roads. The route the district administration prepared to reach the crematorium was muddy. The body was carried through paddy fields, using planks. When the public could not find a way, they used the footpaths. Supporters of Shibu Soren reached the crematorium through different footpaths. During the rain, some people sheltered in tents, but the supporters of Shibu Soren remained in place. They stayed in the rain for approximately half an hour and finally paid tribute to their leader before departing.
