Connect skill training with employment, make youth self-reliant – Chief Minister Shri Sai

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today gave clear instructions in the review meeting of the Skill Development Department at Mahanadi Bhawan, Nava Raipur, that the skill training of the youth should be directly linked to employment and self-employment. He said that the objective of the government is not only to provide training, but to make the youth self-reliant and capable. For this, continuous innovation and effective action plan by the department is necessary.
The Chief Minister, while reviewing the progress of departmental schemes in the meeting, discussed in detail the district-wise training achievements and allocated budget for the year 2025-26. He took detailed information about the training programs conducted under the Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0, and Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.
The Chief Minister took information regarding the training being given to surrendered Maoists under the ‘Niyad Nella Nar’ scheme. It was informed in the meeting that till now 549 youths have been trained, while 382 trainees are receiving training in rehabilitation centers. In the same sequence, a review was also done of the course-wise training being given to the youth of the extremely backward tribes (PVTG) under the PM Janman Yojana.
Informing about the departmental achievements in the meeting, it was told that from July 1, 2025, the attendance of the trainees is being recorded through the face-based scanning system under the Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme, which has improved transparency and monitoring.
Information about the MOUs done by the department with private institutions was also shared in the meeting, which included agreements with Nandi Foundation and Mahindra & Mahindra institutions. Quality-based training is being conducted in the state through these institutions.
The outline of the organization of ‘Kaushal Tihar 2025’ was also presented in the meeting, the objective of which is to increase awareness about skills among the youth. This competition will be organized in two phases at the district and state level, in which participants of two age groups – less than 22 years and more than 22 years – will participate. The competition includes 10 major trades: Automobile Technology, Bricklaying, Renewable Energy
Health and Social Care, Plumbing and Heating, Electrical Installations, Electronics Field Technician, Computer, Mobile Phone Technician, Graphic Design Technology/Desktop Publishing and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. Two winners will be selected from each trade and age group at the district level, who will participate in the state level competition. The winners at the state level will be given prizes, trophies and employment opportunities. They will be prepared for the regional and national competitions of India Skills 2025, from where the selected participants will represent India in ‘World Skills 2026’, Shanghai (China).
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that skill development schemes should be linked to the livelihood, self-reliance and future building of the youth. He directed to make continuous efforts in this direction.
In the meeting, Forest and Skill Development Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Skill Development Department Shri S. Bhartidasan and Chief Executive Officer of Chhattisgarh State Skill Development Agency (CSDA) Shri Vijay Dayaram and other senior departmental officers were present.
