Himachal Pradesh is also under a weather alert issued by the meteorological department. Flooding is affecting numerous areas in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Several states including Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha are also experiencing heavy rainfall.
However, the capital city is experiencing a dry spell, with residents enduring humidity and heat. Despite the forecast of rain by the meteorological department, Delhi has not seen rainfall for three days. The monsoon trough is the main factor for rainfall, but it has moved north of Delhi at the moment.
This scenario limits rainfall to mountainous regions, reducing the likelihood of significant rainfall in Delhi. The meteorological department has forecasted light rain or drizzle in Delhi for today. Rain in the capital is likely to persist until the 12th. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Karnataka in the next 24 hours.
Clouds are expected to bring rain from Bengal to Andaman and Nicobar.
Some regions in these states might experience heavy rainfall. Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are also expected to have light to moderate rainfall, with some locations facing heavy downpours. Light to moderate rain is possible in parts of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan, Goa, Rayalaseema, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Central India and Rajasthan are expected to receive light rainfall in the next 6-7 days. The northeastern and surrounding eastern parts of India may continue experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 7 days. Extremely heavy rainfall is possible in some areas of Arunachal Pradesh tomorrow, August 8th.
