In a shocking turn of events in Jodhpur, a bride from Bihar was caught in a marriage fraud scheme. After the wedding night, she locked her groom in a room and attempted an escape from the balcony, leading to severe injuries. This event exposed a larger criminal operation.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Banar police station. Bharat filed a complaint against Suman, the 23-year-old bride, and five others, alleging a fraudulent marriage. He detailed the scheme in his report.
Bharat, who was seeking a marriage partner, was introduced to Suman by Nandkishore Soni, an acquaintance of his father, on June 27. Two individuals, Sandeep Sharma and Ravi, brought two women, Suman and Ruby Pandey. Bharat selected Suman and was asked to pay 300,000 rupees for the wedding.
Bharat paid 170,000 rupees in cash and 130,000 rupees online. The wedding took place at an Arya Samaj temple. However, two days later, Bharat learned that Suman was a ‘looteri dulhan’. A confrontation ensued, and Suman locked Bharat in their room. She then created a makeshift rope from her saree and jumped from the balcony, resulting in broken legs. Ravi and Sandeep were waiting outside but fled when Bharat’s family arrived, leaving Suman to be apprehended.
Even in the hospital, Suman attempted to mislead the authorities by changing her father’s name. Further investigation revealed that she was already married and provided false documents during the wedding. This led to the exposure of the entire gang. Suman Pandey is from Aurangabad, Bihar. Sandeep Sharma is from Kaushambi, UP. Ravi and Ruby Devi are from Dalmia Nagar, Rohtas, Bihar, while Nand Kishore Soni and Jitendra Soni are from Jodhpur. The search for the remaining suspects is ongoing.
