Under this scheme, solar rooftop plants are connected to the electrical grid via net metering. Consumers can generate more electricity than they need and supply the excess to the grid, which can result in a zero electricity bill and additional income. The scheme offers subsidies: 45 thousand rupees for installing a 1-kilowatt solar plant (30 thousand from the central government and 15 thousand from the state government), 90 thousand rupees for a 2-kilowatt solar plant (60 thousand from the center and 30 thousand from the state), and 1 lakh 8 thousand rupees for a 3-kilowatt solar panel installation (78 thousand from the central government and 30 thousand from the state). To avail of the PM Free Electricity Scheme, consumers must register on the website https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in or through the PM Suryaghar mobile app.
