Recent data highlights a concerning trend: the rising number of deaths among Indian citizens in Canada. A recent report indicated that over 1,000 Indian nationals have died in Canada over the past five years. The Indian government shared that a significant portion of the deaths were attributed to natural causes. However, the statistics also encompass deaths resulting from accidents, violence, suicide, and murder. The Minister of State for External Affairs provided these details in response to questions in the Rajya Sabha. The Ministry of External Affairs, along with Indian embassies, work together to assist distressed Indian citizens in various situations, including death, local cremation or burial, and repatriation of remains to India.
