The Chhattisgarh government is building approximately 3,000 homes under a special PMAY project, designed to support families affected by Naxal violence and those of surrendered extremists. This project is specifically approved by the Central Government, forming part of a larger scheme for 15,000 houses for families who wouldn’t qualify under usual PMAY rules. Of the 5,000 families identified, 3,000 have received housing approvals. Financial aid has been provided to over 2,100 families, with some receiving their second installment, and construction is advancing quickly, including in the most remote areas. The project’s success is illustrated by stories such as those of Sodi Hungi and Dashri Bai, who completed their homes swiftly despite challenging circumstances. This housing initiative is focused on rebuilding the lives of families in the Bastar division, giving them access to safe, permanent homes, and is strongly supported by government and community efforts.
