Nissan, known for its popular Magnite in India, is developing a mid-size SUV. The company plans to launch a mid-size SUV and a compact MPV similar to the Renault Triber. The SUV will be based on the third-generation Renault Duster, with an expected launch in India in early 2026. The testing phase for this new SUV has already begun.
A test mule of the Nissan C-segment SUV was spotted for the first time in India. The car is likely to be available for sale by mid-2026. The vehicle was captured during testing in Tamil Nadu. Due to heavy camouflage, the design details are hard to make out.
Despite the camouflage, the design is expected to be similar to the concept model presented earlier. Although sharing the CMF-B platform with its Renault counterpart, the Nissan SUV will feature a unique design reflecting Nissan’s styling.
The design appears to draw inspiration from the Nissan Patrol, with a signature grille, Nissan logo, and LED daytime running lights. The front bumper will distinguish it from the Renault model. The side profile showcases square wheel arches, cladding, and alloy wheels. The rear includes a sculpted tailgate, spoiler, square tail-lights, and a shark-fin antenna. The interior details are yet to be revealed.
The SUV will use the Renault Duster’s powertrain, offering various engine and transmission choices internationally. Nissan is expected to offer both naturally aspirated and turbo petrol engines in India, with a strong hybrid powertrain possibly being added later.
