
The countdown to the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, has begun, with only fifty days remaining. A trophy launch event took place in Mumbai, attended by key figures including ICC Chief Jay Shah, Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. Yuvraj Singh, a key member of the 2011 World Cup winning team, was also present. Kaur highlighted the team’s commitment to winning the upcoming World Cup, emphasizing the special significance of the tournament. She shared an emotional account of the reception following her remarkable innings of 171 against Australia in 2017. Furthermore, Kaur discussed the significance of the upcoming home ODI series against Australia, commencing on September 14th, as a gauge of the team’s preparedness, citing the team’s recent victories against England as a positive indicator.
