Following a stringent order from the Supreme Court, the Delhi government is set to remove stray dogs from the Delhi-NCR area and relocate them to designated dog shelters within two months. The court has underscored the severity of the issue, issuing specific directives to address dog bite incidents and warning of strict measures against those who impede the removal process. Development Minister Kapil Mishra has announced that the Delhi government will execute the order with a structured, time-bound approach. The primary objective is to reduce the instances of rabies and address public anxieties associated with stray animals. The government intends to work in tandem with all relevant agencies, ensuring compliance while also prioritizing the welfare and care of the displaced animals.
