Ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the state is facing scrutiny over its electoral roll, specifically concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Allegations of irregularities, including errors in the voter list, have surfaced. Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent RJD leader, has alleged that his name is missing from the draft voter list, despite fulfilling the necessary procedures. The Patna district administration clarified that his name is registered, but his polling location and serial number were altered. This has led to a dispute, with Yadav questioning the changes and suggesting potential manipulation. JDU has criticized Yadav, accusing him of political deception. The Election Commission refuted the claims, stating that Yadav’s name is correctly listed. The SIR process, which aims to refine the voter list, will allow objections from the public and political parties. The controversy has added to the political tensions in Bihar.
