The IPL 2026 trade window is creating excitement with many franchises preparing to make changes after a turbulent 2025 season. Teams such as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are expected to be active in the market to strengthen their squads. Ravichandran Ashwin, a prominent player for CSK, shared his predictions regarding the upcoming mini-auction. During his Hindi YouTube channel, Ashwin stated that overseas players will be the primary targets for teams.
Ashwin believes that acquiring top-quality Indian players will be a challenge, possibly leading to franchises investing heavily in international talent. He emphasized that foreign all-rounders will be particularly valuable. He mentioned Mitchell Owen, who briefly played for Punjab Kings, and Cameron Green as potential players who could attract high bids. Ashwin forecasts that the mini-auction will involve significant financial commitments from all teams.
Regarding Indian players, Ashwin believes Mayank Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants could be a major domestic name in play. Despite being retained for a substantial amount, the young pacer’s injury concerns might lead LSG to trade him. The trade window has already seen significant speculation around Sanju Samson and KL Rahul. Reports suggest Samson may request a trade due to disagreements, with KKR and CSK among the potential suitors. Ashwin, who was bought by CSK last season, had a modest performance, which might result in a potential trade as well. The mini-auction, scheduled for later in 2025, is likely to involve extensive negotiations and possible major trades, providing teams such as CSK and KKR a chance to improve in 2026.
