The Congress party is under scrutiny after using footage of Kay Kay Menon in a video for their ‘Vote Theft’ campaign. The video, shared on the party’s official social media, showed Menon, known for his role in the web series Special Ops, seemingly promoting the campaign. Menon has since stated that he did not participate in the campaign and that his image was used without his permission. In his comment on the video, Menon stated that he had not worked on the advertisement and that a promotional clip from his series was edited and used. The Congress video shows Menon prompting viewers to stop scrolling, followed by another individual promoting joining the campaign against vote theft. The video also used the theme song of Special Ops 2. In response to Menon’s comment, users shared their reactions, some understanding that it was an edited video, while others thought he was part of the Congress campaign. The clip in question was taken from a promotional video released three weeks ago, where Menon was promoting his web series Special Ops, originally shared by Hotstar on Instagram.
