The Nepal cricket team is currently undergoing intense training in India, supported by the BCCI, to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The BCCI has opened its Centre of Excellence to facilitate Nepal’s preparations for the qualifiers. A video shared on social media by the BCCI highlights the team’s rigorous training.
The Nepal team utilized the BCCI facilities for a two-week camp, focusing on enhancing their skills, fitness, and practicing match scenarios. The team aims to excel in the upcoming qualifiers and secure a place in the main tournament. The T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka next year, with the qualifiers taking place in Oman.
Previously, the BCCI has provided assistance to Nepal’s team. Before the 2024 T20 World Cup, Nepal had the opportunity to practice in India and play matches against teams from the Gujarat Cricket Association and Baroda. The support extends beyond the men’s team, with the women’s team also having trained in India for the Asia Cup qualifiers. India’s government, represented by the External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, has also voiced support for cricket development in Nepal, backing practice matches between Nepal and the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) Under-19 teams.
