
The Bihar Police continues its efforts to combat crime, resulting in the arrest of Nikhil Kumar, a wanted criminal from Nawada. Kumar was apprehended with an illegal firearm in a joint operation by the Bihar STF and Nawada district police. The arrest took place in an urban area during the night of August 11-12. The arrest is linked to an earlier incident on July 27, where Kumar and his associates attacked the shop and home of businessman Neeraj Prakash Lal in Hisua market, during which the electronics shop owner was shot. During questioning, the arrested individual admitted to hiding the weapon used in the attack in the bushes near the Pahari Baba temple in Hisua. When police attempted to recover the weapon, he fired at the officers. The police returned fire in self-defense, resulting in Kumar being shot and hospitalized. Authorities recovered a 1 cm automatic pistol, two live cartridges, and two empty shells from the suspect. Nikhil Kumar has an extensive criminal record, with several cases pending against him in Nawada, Arwal, and Gaya districts, including charges of dacoity, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act.
