
The Bihar Police has refuted allegations made by Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on social media, which cited 17 criminal incidents in the state. A spokesperson from the police headquarters addressed the claims and provided specifics on recent criminal cases. The police stated that they have handled all incidents, irrespective of their scale, with due seriousness, leading to the resolution of the cases, arrests, and further action. Addressing Yadav’s post, the police clarified that the incidents he highlighted—the murder of a farmer in Rohtas and the killing of an 18-year-old in Bettiah—were not related to the claims made. The spokesperson noted that the police are consistently working to ensure the punishment of those involved in criminal activities. Between January and June of the current year, 64,989 accused were punished in 46,616 cases by various courts throughout the state, with sentences ranging from the death penalty to life imprisonment, along with other punishments. The police emphasized that the incidents referenced by the Leader of the Opposition were presented in a different context than what actually occurred. The police provided specific details of numerous cases. The case involving the murder of a businessman in Motihari, which was motivated by ransom, is connected to the Chakia police station. According to a complaint filed by Asharfi Sah at Kalyanpur police station on August 10, his son, Neeraj, was allegedly kidnapped by Shubham Kumar and others, who demanded a ransom of two lakh rupees, with threats of murder if the payment wasn’t made. On August 11, Neeraj’s body was recovered in Chawar, Paru police station area, in the Muzaffarpur district. All six suspects named in the complaint have been arrested. The case of the kidnapping and murder of a father and son in Patna is linked to the Khagaul police station. Vishal was assaulted and abducted on August 6, and his body was found on August 8. Five accused were arrested immediately, with one suspect surrendering to the court. In Samastipur, the shooting of Gudiya Kumari in Parsa, Telia Tola, which occurred on August 11 under the jurisdiction of Shivaji Nagar police station, is under investigation by the FSL and DIU teams, with the Rosada SDPO overseeing the investigation. Regarding the incident in Muzaffarpur, where a youth was reportedly murdered, the police stated that on August 11, a body was discovered in the Paru police station area, showing signs of a slit throat. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed, and the FSL team is actively investigating. In Sitamarhi, the murder of a woman and a child in Patdaura Tola, which took place on August 12, is being investigated by the FSL team, and efforts are being made to identify the victims. Also under investigation is the murder of a woman in Gulzarbagh village, Nalanda, where Sanjay Manjhi is alleged to have killed his wife, Girani Devi, with a hoe on August 11. Additionally, the incident of two individuals being shot and injured near Kathpul, under Patna’s Mehandiganj police station, on August 10, is being investigated with ongoing raids to arrest those responsible. The murder of a widowed woman in Chandpur village, Raushanganj police station, Gaya, on August 8, is also being investigated, with a team formed to identify the perpetrators. In Supaul, the murder of a Sarpanch’s son in Bhaptiyahi on August 10 has resulted in the arrest of four suspects, with further investigations in progress. The murder of Nikhil Kumar in Sarmera, Nalanda, on August 3, led to the arrest and imprisonment of six people. The murder case in Adhaura police station, Kaimur, on August 7, is currently under investigation. Authorities are working on identifying those responsible for the shooting of a youth in Repura Bazar, Jiradei area, Siwan. In Lawabar village, Kothi police station, Gaya, an individual was beaten to death on August 11, and six FIR accused have been arrested, with further action underway. In Gaya’s Atari police station, ten FIR accused have been arrested in connection with the murder of a youth on August 9. The murder of Rahul Kumar, a 25-year-old, in Benta police station, Darbhanga, which occurred on August 5 due to a love affair, has led to the arrest of the girl’s father.
