MeitY has advised users to stop using WhatsApp Web on office devices. The advisory emphasizes that using WhatsApp Web on work devices can expose personal chats and files to the company’s administrators and IT teams. This unauthorized access can occur through various methods such as malware, screen-monitoring software, or browser hijacking. The warning is a response to increasing cybersecurity concerns within workplaces. The Information Security Awareness Team has pointed out that WhatsApp Web could be a gateway for malware and phishing attacks, posing a threat to the entire network. The government advises users to log out of WhatsApp Web after use and to be cautious when clicking on links or opening attachments from unknown sources.
