From August 15th, a new toll policy will be enforced across the country. This includes an annual toll pass available for 3,000 rupees. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is focused on preventing the misuse of this toll pass program. This initiative is currently targeted at non-commercial vehicles only. To prevent misuse, such as unauthorized use by trucks and buses, the ministry is integrating the scheme with Vahan-e-Parivahan and other systems to verify the type of vehicle. Initially, the benefits of this scheme will be accessible only to non-commercial vehicles. A comprehensive system is in development to prevent commercial vehicles from taking advantage of the scheme.
