The infiltration attempt occurred in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, specifically near the village of Chirunda. The security forces managed to prevent the infiltration. Tragically, a soldier was killed in the resulting encounter. The operation is ongoing. The army has established a cordon around the area and is conducting a thorough search. Prior to this incident, encounters occurred at three different locations.
One week prior, security forces engaged in encounters at three locations: Kishtwar, Kathua, and Baramulla. Security forces achieved success in the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla, eliminating four terrorists. The army also recovered a cache of weapons. Two soldiers were martyred, and two others were injured in those engagements. This is the second instance of soldiers being martyred in the Jammu and Kashmir region within a week.
