With Independence Day approaching, security agencies across India are on high alert. Despite increased vigilance, attempts to infiltrate have been made. However, these attempts are being thwarted. The army successfully disrupted an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Baramulla region. During the ensuing clash, a soldier was martyred. The army has initiated a comprehensive search operation.
The infiltration attempt occurred in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, specifically near the village of Chirunda. The security forces managed to prevent the infiltration. Tragically, a soldier was killed in the resulting encounter. The operation is ongoing. The army has established a cordon around the area and is conducting a thorough search. The sound of gunfire can be heard in the surrounding areas.
Multiple encounters have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir over the past week. Security forces are maintaining tight security measures in the lead-up to Independence Day.
Prior to this incident, encounters occurred at three different locations.
One week prior, security forces engaged in encounters at three locations: Kishtwar, Kathua, and Baramulla. Security forces achieved success in the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla, eliminating four terrorists. The army also recovered a cache of weapons. Two soldiers were martyred, and two others were injured in those engagements. This is the second instance of soldiers being martyred in the Jammu and Kashmir region within a week.
