The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested four individuals, including former Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation commissioner Anil Pawar, in connection with a money laundering case. Others arrested are Y.S. Reddy, from the town planning department, and builders Sitaram Gupta and Arun Gupta. The arrests are linked to investigations into corruption related to 41 unauthorized buildings. The ED is set to present the accused in court and seek custody. The ED’s operations led to the seizure of around ₹1.33 crore in cash, found at locations connected to Pawar’s associates, along with documents and digital evidence related to properties worth billions.
Anil Pawar is alleged to have orchestrated a corruption network involving various officials such as town planning officials, junior engineers, architects, chartered accountants, and liaison officers.
