In anticipation of the Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Metro will operate with adjusted timings to facilitate attendees of the Red Fort ceremony. Metro services will begin at 4:00 AM on August 15th, as announced by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). From 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM, trains will depart every 30 minutes from all terminal stations across all lines. Normal service will resume after 6:00 AM.
Special QR tickets will be issued by the Delhi Metro to those with valid invitations from the Ministry of Defence, allowing them to travel to the ceremony. The Ministry of Defence will cover the cost of these tickets.
To manage traffic, the Delhi Traffic Police have diverted routes around the Red Fort. The DMRC has also implemented special measures for passengers.
Security has been increased on the Delhi Metro for Independence Day. The DMRC has stated that long queues may form at certain stations, especially during peak hours, and this situation might persist until August 15th. Travelers are advised to plan their journeys with extra time.
The Independence Day preparations, including a full dress rehearsal at the Red Fort, are underway. The early start of the metro services is designed to ensure convenient access for the public to the Red Fort and other venues hosting special events.
