A couple, united by love, formalized their relationship through marriage at an Arya Samaj temple on May 15th. Just 13 days later, the bride’s disappearance sparked alarm. The husband asserts that the bride’s father took her, claiming it was for a brief visit to her parental home. The bride’s whereabouts remain unknown. The husband has relentlessly pursued efforts to locate his wife, alleging a lack of cooperation from law enforcement. Consequently, the case has escalated to the High Court.
The High Court has issued a directive to the SP, mandating the recovery of the woman and her presentation before the court by August 28th. The case originates from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Suraj Banjare, a resident of Bilaspur, and a woman from Mungeli, initially developed a friendship that evolved into a romantic relationship. Their marriage took place in Raipur on May 15, 2025. The couple subsequently cohabited as husband and wife. The husband alleges that on May 28th, the woman’s family members visited and forcefully took her away.
**The Search Commences After Wife’s Non-Return**
Suraj has indicated that his wife was scheduled to return home. However, when she failed to do so, he initiated a search. The woman’s family has been uncooperative, withholding information about her location. Suraj has filed complaints with the police and repeatedly visited the police station, but claims that the authorities have not been helpful. Approximately a month ago, Suraj filed a habeas corpus petition in the High Court. He stated that the woman’s family was obstructing his efforts to find her. The husband expresses apprehension about his wife’s safety, stating, “I fear that these people might have harmed my wife.”
The petitioner’s legal representative informed the court about the potential threat to the woman’s life and requested her immediate recovery and presentation in court to verify her well-being.
**High Court Directs Mungeli SP**
Following the hearing, the High Court deemed the matter serious. The court instructed the Mungeli SP to exhaust all available resources to locate the woman and produce her in court by August 28th. Furthermore, the court has summoned the woman’s father to appear as well.
