The Serious Injury Replacement rule aims to ensure that team strategy isn’t affected by injuries and that the standard of the game is maintained. Umpires were briefed on the latest playing conditions at a seminar in Ahmedabad. The BCCI clarified that such replacements will not be permitted in white-ball tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali or Vijay Hazare tournaments. It is yet to be decided whether this rule will be allowed in the next IPL season, but it will be applicable in the CK Nayudu Trophy for multi-day Under-19 tournaments.
