Australia’s T20 series victory against South Africa highlighted the exceptional batting of Dewald Brevis, who topped the series’ run charts. Despite his dominance, Brevis couldn’t match a record set by India’s Virat Kohli in Australia. Brevis scored 180 runs in the series, trailing Kohli’s 199-run performance by 20 runs.
Kohli’s record was set in a three-match T20 series in Australia in 2016. He scored 199 runs, including an unbeaten 90 in the first match, helping India win by 37 runs. He continued his form with an unbeaten 59 in the second T20, securing another win for India. In the final match in Sydney, Kohli scored 50 runs, leading India to a 3-0 series victory.
In the 2025 series, Brevis managed 180 runs, with his first match yielding only two runs. However, he displayed his talent with a century in the second match, scoring an unbeaten 125. He maintained his form in the third T20 with a score of 53, but his team was unable to secure a win, falling 20 runs short of Kohli’s runs.
Brevis, though unable to surpass Kohli’s record, distinguished himself by hitting the most sixes in T20 cricket in 2025, with a total of 79 sixes. Mitchell Owen from Australia and Sahibzada Farhan from Pakistan tied for second with 77 sixes each.
