Former US President Donald Trump is slated to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington D.C., with a delegation of European leaders also attending. The meeting comes after Trump’s earlier discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Leaders such as Emmanuel Macron, Giorgia Meloni, and others from NATO will be present. Their objective is to discuss strategies for ending the ongoing conflict. The encounter takes place amidst heightened international interest due to the previous strained interactions between Trump and Zelensky. The meeting’s importance is underscored by the recent summit between Trump and Putin where no ceasefire was agreed upon. The European leaders are attending the meeting to show support for Zelensky. The recent meeting of Trump with Putin saw discussions that allegedly included Putin demanding that Ukraine cede the eastern Donbas region in order to end the conflict. However, Zelensky has stated he would not cede any territory.
