Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of Team India, is known for his strategic thinking and ability to inspire players. He has demonstrated this by providing motivational support to Varun Chakravarthy. Chakravarthy opened up about the encouraging words he received from Gambhir. In an interview conducted before the Asia Cup, Varun Chakravarthy characterized Gautam Gambhir as a warrior and revealed that Gambhir assured him of his unwavering trust and his inclusion in his plans.
In a discussion with Revsportz, Varun Chakravarthy stated, ‘Gautam Gambhir played a vital role in my comeback, consistently encouraging me. Although we don’t converse frequently, he has always instilled confidence in me. He told me, ‘Regardless of who overlooks you, I will always keep you in my plans.’ He motivated me in this manner. His mindset is akin to that of a warrior. His approach proved beneficial for KKR and also helped in the Champions Trophy.’
Discussing the Asia Cup, Chakravarthy highlighted that the break given to white-ball cricketers after the IPL would be advantageous. ‘The Asia Cup is coming up. White-ball players have had a good rest after the IPL. I took part in the TNPL but still got a month’s rest. I worked on my strength and conditioning. I also focused on my bowling and batting. I feel very good because I have spent time with my child, wife, and parents.’
Varun Chakravarthy is now prepared to showcase his abilities in the Asia Cup, which starts on September 9th in the UAE. India’s inaugural match is on September 10th against the UAE, followed by a match against Pakistan on September 14th.
