Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the necessity of these discussions being free from any preconditions. This stance was articulated during a visit to the White House, where Zelenskyy met with US President Donald Trump and seven European leaders. The meeting followed Trump’s earlier summit with Putin in Alaska. Zelenskyy cautioned that imposing preconditions could inadvertently grant Russia an advantage, potentially jeopardizing the effectiveness of the negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which stemmed from Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country.
