A family in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, is alleging a baby swap at SKMCH after receiving a baby girl instead of the expected boy. Chanchala Kumari delivered a baby at the hospital. The family was informed it was a boy, and celebrations ensued. Upon returning home, they discovered the baby was a girl, prompting them to accuse the hospital staff of switching the infants. The police have initiated an investigation, focusing on the possibility of an error.
SDPO Vineeta Sinha is overseeing the investigation, questioning the nursing staff on duty during the delivery. Dr. Satish Kumar Singh, the Deputy Superintendent of SKMCH, confirmed the complaint and stated that the discrepancy between the BHT and the baby delivered would be clarified after the investigation. The authorities are reviewing the records of all newborns and their families from the night shift.
