Reports of a ChatGPT outage in India surfaced on August 20, 2025, with users experiencing login errors starting around noon. The service faced disruptions, as confirmed by data showing interruptions over a 24-hour period. Most of the time, user issues were minimal, close to zero. There were two occasions when a larger number of users reported problems. The initial instance was around 9:00 PM on August 19, with roughly 80 reports. The subsequent occurrence, which was the largest issue of the day, took place around 12:00 PM on August 20, with close to 483 reports. The number of reports decreased in the afternoon but remained somewhat higher than normal, suggesting the persistence of some difficulties. The service mainly worked fine, apart from these two spikes. The majority of complaints, accounting for 54%, were directed toward ChatGPT itself. Approximately 43% of issues pertained to the OpenAI website, while only 3% came from the mobile app.
