
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked by Rajesh Khimji during a public hearing, prompting an immediate investigation. CCTV footage shows Rajesh Khimji conducting surveillance of the CM’s residence before the incident. Khimji had visited the CM’s Shalimar Bagh residence and obtained the address of the official residence from the staff.
The accused then returned to the Gujarati Samaj Bhavan in Civil Lines before going to the CM’s official residence. Delhi BJP sources stated that the attacker presented papers to Rekha Gupta before allegedly attacking her during the public hearing.
The accused, Rajesh (41), is a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat. Following the attack, he was taken into custody and questioned by the police. Senior officials, including the Delhi Police Commissioner, the Chief Secretary, and Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh, also arrived at CM Gupta’s residence after the attack.
Reports indicate that the attacker was seeking the release of a jailed relative. The police are investigating the motives behind the attack and the events leading up to it.
