The Tamil Nadu government has launched a WhatsApp-based chatbot to improve access to public services for its citizens. The launch was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding attended by IT Minister Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and Principal Secretary Brajendra Navnit. This chatbot offers a consolidated platform, providing access to around 50 government services.
The chatbot caters to both Tamil and English speakers. Users can utilize it to lodge complaints, manage utility bill payments (such as electricity and water), pay municipal taxes, and make metro ticket purchases.
Officials explained that this development is geared toward decreasing the need to visit service centers and offering services directly via mobile phones. The objective is to make government services accessible anytime, anywhere, using the convenience of a mobile device.
