TVS is set to broaden its electric scooter range with the introduction of a new model, likely named the Orbiter. The launch is scheduled for August 28. The Orbiter will be positioned below the iQube in the company’s EV lineup, targeting budget-conscious consumers.
The launch invitations confirm the date but do not offer details regarding the scooter’s specifications. The upcoming scooter is being developed with a focus on affordability. It will reportedly incorporate a hub-mounted motor to minimize production costs. The Orbiter will be the most accessible electric scooter in the TVS range. TVS has also trademarked other names such as EV One and O.
With the iQube already available in multiple versions, it is probable that the Orbiter will also come in different configurations. The iQube’s pricing begins at ₹1 lakh for the 2.2 kWh base variant and goes up to almost ₹2 lakh for the 5.1 kWh top-spec version. The Orbiter is expected to be priced below the iQube, featuring a smaller battery, simpler parts, and fewer features.
The growing adoption of EVs is fueled by government incentives, which encourages manufacturers like TVS to introduce diverse models that cater to various price points, making EVs accessible to a wider range of consumers.
