The Indian government has issued a statement confirming that the ban on TikTok remains in effect, addressing recent reports of website accessibility. Government sources explicitly denied issuing any order to unblock the popular Chinese video-streaming platform, calling such reports inaccurate. Although some users experienced temporary access to the TikTok website, they were unable to log in or view any content. Moreover, the TikTok application is still absent from app stores. The ban was originally imposed in June 2020, encompassing 59 Chinese mobile apps, in response to threats to national sovereignty and security, following the Galwan Valley conflict. The government’s decision was based on concerns about user data collection and potential misuse. While efforts are being made to improve relations between India and China, the ban on TikTok persists.
