In ‘Soch,’ director Sushen Bhatnagar takes on the challenge of adapting Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Strangers on a Train’ for an Indian audience. The film blends suspense with observations on the paparazzi’s impact on celebrity lives. However, the narrative becomes muddled with the inclusion of excessive comedy and songs. Sanjay Kapoor plays a troubled superstar, while Raveena Tandon portrays the director-choreographer with whom he has a complex relationship. The film’s strength lies in Arbaaz Khan’s performance as the psychotic killer. While the film grapples with the themes of morality and the pressures of fame, the execution is often uneven. Bhatnagar’s attempts to create a suspenseful atmosphere are frequently undermined by the incorporation of commercial elements. Despite its flaws, ‘Soch’ attempts to push boundaries, offering a critical view of the film industry.
