A gruesome double murder in Dumka, Jharkhand, has exposed a shocking case of familial betrayal. The victims, Navgopal Saha and his wife Vibhu Saha, were found dead in their home. The incident occurred while their son was visiting his wife’s family.
Police responded to the scene in Chorkatta village, under the Mufassil police station jurisdiction. The investigation, headed by SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar, employed forensic techniques and examined digital evidence.
Focus shifted to the couple’s younger son-in-law, Subal Saha. Initially, he attempted to mislead investigators. Analysis of mobile records contradicted his claims, pinpointing his presence near the crime scene, not in West Bengal as he asserted.
Under sustained interrogation, Subal Saha confessed to the murders. The motive: a dispute over money. On August 19th, he traveled from Birbhum, West Bengal, and requested funds from his father-in-law for his truck. The refusal triggered an argument, fueled by resentment over the couple’s financial support for their other son-in-law. Driven by anger, Subal Saha used a brick to fatally assault his father-in-law. When his mother-in-law tried to intervene, she also became a victim. The accused then stole jewelry and discarded the father-in-law’s phone. He returned to West Bengal to avoid suspicion, even participating in the funeral, feigning grief.
The police have arrested Subal Saha and recovered crucial evidence, including the stolen jewelry and the discarded mobile phone.
