
Central Delhi Kings secured their place in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 2 playoffs with a resounding victory over Purani Dilli 6. The Kings won by 104 runs (DLS method) in a match at Arun Jaitley Stadium that was impacted by rain.
Having chosen to bat first, the Kings recovered quickly from an early setback. Yash Dhull’s half-century anchored the innings, and he partnered with Yugal Saini to build a crucial 57-run partnership. The middle order, including Jonty Sidhu and Aditya Bhandari, contributed valuable runs. The innings was highlighted by Aryan Rana’s explosive, unbeaten 42 off just 14 balls. The Kings finished with 197/5 in 18 overs. Rajneesh Dadar was the standout bowler for Purani Dilli 6, taking three wickets.
Purani Dilli 6 struggled in their pursuit of the target. The Kings’ bowlers, Money Grewal and Arun Pundir, made early inroads, dismissing key batsmen. Rain interrupted the game when Purani Dilli 6 were at 44/3 in 6 overs, which led to a revised DLS target of 174 runs in 15 overs.
After the rain delay, Purani Dilli 6’s batting woes continued. Simarjeet Singh took two wickets, and Pranav Pant provided a brief resistance. However, the team collapsed, and Purani Dilli 6 were bowled out for 69 runs.
Simarjeet Singh and Jonty Sidhu took two wickets each for the Kings, while Arun Pundir also claimed two wickets. The comprehensive win gives the Kings momentum going into the playoffs and sends a strong message to their competitors in DPL Season 2.
