Torrential rains have caused extensive damage throughout Chhattisgarh, with flood-like conditions reported in numerous areas. A major tragedy has occurred in Bilaspur, where a family was caught in the surge of a swollen stream. Three children are confirmed dead, and one individual is still unaccounted for. The incident took place in the Belgahana Chowki area. The family was returning from a pilgrimage to the Marhi Mata shrine. The heavy and persistent rain caused the stream to overflow. While attempting to cross, the children were swept away by the strong current of the stream. Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and began search efforts. The police have sent the bodies of the three children for post-mortem examination. The family is devastated by the loss, as are their relatives. Light to moderate rainfall has been affecting several areas across the state, including the Sarguja, Bastar, and Bilaspur divisions, as well as portions of the Raipur and Durg divisions. The rescue operations were temporarily stopped during the night due to heavy rain and low visibility, but have since recommenced with the dawn.
