Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the export of Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara, Suzuki’s first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), from the Suzuki Motor Plant in Ahmedabad, solidifying India’s role in the EV sector. The e-Vitara, manufactured in India, is slated for export to more than a hundred countries. Simultaneously, the production of hybrid battery electrodes has begun at a plant in Gujarat. This initiative supports the vision of India becoming a central location for electric mobility, sophisticated manufacturing, and infrastructure advancement, fostering a self-sufficient approach to green energy. The e-VITARA was initially unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. The launch of the e-VITARA underscores India’s ambition to become a global hub for electric vehicles, aligning with the broader vision of positioning India at the forefront of electric mobility and advanced manufacturing.
