A significant initiative is underway to update the biometric data associated with the Aadhaar cards of 170 million children across India. The UIDAI is spearheading this effort by writing to state authorities to ensure the biometric information is current and accurate. Schools will serve as venues for conducting biometric update camps. The Ministry of Education has also provided necessary information on the UDISE Plus platform for district officials and principals to monitor progress. UIDAI CEO Bhuvanesh Kumar has personally communicated with the Chief Secretaries of all states and union territories to solicit cooperation. Children’s Aadhaar cards are initially created using their parents’ details, but biometric updates are required at ages five and fifteen. The UIDAI is stressing the importance of completing these updates promptly.
