Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey later reported that children were among those killed during the morning mass held at Annunciation Catholic School. While the exact number of child casualties was not disclosed, the mayor confirmed their presence among the deceased. Frey remarked on the severity of the situation, stating, “You cannot put into words the gravity, tragedy, or absolute pain of this moment.”
President Donald Trump indicated he had been briefed on the “tragic shooting” and shared his sentiments. Trump posted on Truth Social: “I have been fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!” Vice President JD Vance also expressed his concern and prayers on X. A Minneapolis hospital confirmed that five children injured in the shooting have been admitted for treatment. Officials are also investigating reports suggesting a possible bomb was placed inside the church. The City of Minneapolis confirmed the situation on its official X account, urging residents to stay away from the area to allow emergency services to assist victims.
