Addressing a common concern among car owners, Renault India has issued a statement regarding the use of E20 fuel in their vehicles. The company has affirmed that its vehicles, particularly the 2022 Triber model, are compatible with E20 fuel, even though they were initially certified for E10 fuel. This statement provides clarity in response to questions about the safety of using E20 fuel in E10-certified cars. The company referenced a collaborative study performed by the Indian Oil Corporation and the Automotive Research Association of India. This study examined the impact of different fuel blends on vehicle longevity, paying special attention to how E20 fuel affects vehicles designed for E10 fuel. The draft report was shared with all vehicle manufacturers by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The study concluded that there were no observed negative impacts on the performance of existing vehicles using E20 fuel. Renault clarified that based on the study’s results, there are no considerable technical risks associated with using E20 fuel in their vehicles. The company emphasized that its models, which had been previously certified under E10 standards, can function without any major issues when using E20 fuel. This is crucial as the Indian government plans to have E20 ethanol-blended petrol available nationwide by 2025. Renault’s announcement alleviates customer worries and supports the government’s push towards eco-friendly fuels.
