In a significant legal development, the Rajasthan High Court has scrapped the 2021 Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination. This decision is a direct result of an investigation into widespread cheating and paper leaks. The court’s action follows years of challenges from candidates who claimed that the exam was compromised. The court had previously intervened to halt the passing-out parade and the appointment of successful candidates. The SI exam aimed to fill 859 positions. The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan uncovered evidence of cheating, including the use of dummy candidates. Over 150 people were arrested in connection with the scandal. The court’s decision was based on findings that the exam paper was circulated through various channels, including WhatsApp, social media, and Bluetooth devices. It was determined that proceeding with the recruitment would be inappropriate. The verdict was lauded by legal experts, who called it historic. The decision, delivered after a four-year wait, has been met with widespread approval.
