Former U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has condemned the Trump administration’s trade measures against India, emphasizing that these actions are contributing to a shift in alliances, favoring China. Sullivan suggested that the aggressive trade tactics have reversed years of work dedicated to improving U.S.-India relations. Discussing the issue on the Bulwark podcast, Sullivan noted a decline in the American brand internationally, using India as a case study. He highlighted that India is now considering forming strategic partnerships with China to counteract the effects of U.S. trade policies. Former diplomat Vikas Swarup also commented on the situation, emphasizing India’s commitment to strategic autonomy.
