Security forces in Bijapur have successfully prevented a Naxal attack. On Saturday, during a demining operation along the Gorna-Mankeli route, a formidable 10-kilogram command IED was found and deactivated on the spot. This incident occurred in the wake of a brutal murder of a young man by Naxals in the same village on Friday, which had instilled widespread fear. The Naxals had planned to target the security forces by placing explosives on the road. However, the operation was unsuccessful. The operation involved a joint team of DRG Bijapur, the Bijapur police station, and the BDS team. During the search, a suspicious electric wire caught the attention of the security forces. The area was then cordoned off for a thorough search. The search led to the discovery of an IED, hidden inside a steel tiffin box and connected to an electric wire of about 70-80 meters. The BDS team carefully defused the explosive with expertise. A video documenting the defusal has also been released. The authorities revealed that the Naxals aimed to harm both security forces and civilians. The timely intervention of the security forces thwarted the Naxal’s agenda, preventing a potentially devastating incident.
