A conflict between Tej Pratap Yadav and his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav, a leader of the RJD, has become public. Addressing a gathering in Jehanabad, Tej Pratap responded to the slogan “Abki Baar Tejashwi Sarkar” with strong words. He said that such slogans were nonsense, because the government is formed by the people and not by any individual. He warned against hubris, stating that those who are arrogant will quickly fall. He has also warned his brother Tejashwi to be wary of “traitors.”
Tej Pratap, who was recently expelled from his family and party, has announced that he will contest the elections independently. He has also formed alliances with smaller parties. He has been vocal in claiming that some people have been trying to sabotage his political future. The open comments made by Tej Pratap are putting pressure on Tejashwi ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Despite Tejashwi being the RJD’s face for the Chief Minister position, the rebellion by the elder brother could lead to a division of the Yadav vote and complicate the party’s election campaign.
